What DEU is
The Disability Evaluation Unit prepares permanent disability ratings when the rating is done by the state rather than by the parties. It is not the hearing office. A case is heard at the WCAB district office; the rating, when DEU prepares it, is a separate step at this unit.
DWC lists a rating unit in the same twenty-three cities as the hearing offices. The ZIP assignment file can send a claim to one hearing office and one rating unit; they are often the same city, and they are not the same function.

Address and phone are reprinted from DWC’s office page. Routing notes in that listing — a suite, a floor, a mail stop — stay as printed. This is not a walk-in clinic and not a place to file a DOR.
